A collaborative masterplan study for phases 3 and 4 of the Gascoigne Estate regeneration project

Stitch was appointed by Be First (LB Barking and Dagenham) along with HTA and Pitman Tozer Architects to review the approved masterplan for the Gascoigne Estate and work up a new proposal that optimises density with exemplary new homes and spaces. The typology led study reviewed a number of varying density propositions, providing the client with a range of options for taking forward the development of the southern phases of the Gascoigne Estate regeneration project. Our approach focussed on a streets first approach that generated a new eco-park at the heart of the neighbourhood and created an integrated piece of Barking.

We see the Gascoigne regeneration project as a major element of the Borough of Barking and Dagenham’s vision for Barking as a whole, helping to create a transformed local centre with truly affordable homes in a mixed community. Our proposals were intentionally ambitious to respond to the huge opportunities of the area, but also provide real benefits for local people.
