Camden Film Quarter

A major mixed-use regeneration project in north London including 485 homes designed by BM Stitch for Places for People.

Project details

The residential elements of Camden Film Quarter deliver 485 homes of which 50% are affordable. They bring human scale and a distinctive mixed-use character to this complex urban setting, with ambitious architecture, generous public realm, and inclusive community design.

Located adjacent to the Kentish Town Conservation Area, Inkerman Gardens responds directly to its historic context with a landscape-led approach. Generous green streetscapes and communal gardens define the scheme, creating a strong sense of continuity with the surrounding residential fabric. Its architecture references the character of Kentish Town through the use of curved brick balconies and finely detailed brick façades that balance robustness and craftsmanship.

To the north of the site, Heathgate occupies a prominent position with views of Hampstead Heath. Here, landmark buildings form a new gateway to the Heath, defined by folded façades and articulated glazed elements that capture light and views.

The two developments share a commitment to tenure-blind design, ensuring that affordable and market homes are indistinguishable in quality and material expression. The result is a cohesive, socially balanced neighbourhood, underpinned by a focus on sustainability, placemaking, and design integrity.

As part of our social value commitment to the project, BM Stitch is sponsoring a local Camden architecture student through the London Neighbourhood Scholarship Trust, a charity set up by Sally Lewis to promote diversity in London’s built environment.
