The latest tranche of schemes in Brick by Brick’s ‘small sites’ programme by architects Mikhail Riches, Mae, HTA, Coffey and Stitch have completed on site

“We are delighted that the Marston Way houses are settling comfortably into the hillside, transforming an unfriendly parking area into a joined-up and welcoming place. After testing many different design responses, we arrived at this approach to use the contours of the site to create unique mews streets that provide intimacy and a domestic scale, as well as far-reaching south-facing views. The interiors offer a range of spaces for flexible living, with upper terraces carved out to create light-filled amenity spaces for every home.” Sally Lewis, director, Stitch

Stitch’s scheme, Marston Way in Upper Norwood, has 10 three-bedroom, three-storey mews houses with large roof terraces offering views to the south. Individual front gardens open on to car-free, paved mews streets, linking to a wider network of open spaces and routes in the area.
