Unanimous planning consent for Ilderton Road mixed-use project

news

This complex Ilderton Wharf project in Southwark’s Old Kent Road opportunity area features Stitch’s first tall building and demonstrates how residential and industrial uses can co-exist without compromise through joined-up design. This scheme has evolved out of our work with the council on the Old Kent Road masterplan where we consistently championed the quality of the street and the experience of the pedestrian in what we call a bottom-up mixed-use environment.

The scheme manipulates site levels and complex access arrangements to successfully retain the existing industrial use on the site. The mixed tenure homes above all have access to a wealth of open space and amenity – from oversized balconies providing ‘outdoor rooms’ and winter gardens, to a choice of generous south-facing communal gardens accessed by homes of all tenures providing all the play and amenity space for under 18’s on-site.

Most importantly the street environment is transformed to create a wonderful pedestrian experience for residents and passers-by, with a new showroom on the corner and celebrated double-height entrances into the residential buildings!
